Technical Sales Professional

Shepherd Controls and Associates, a leading industrial automation distributor, is seeking a sales professional with a technical background for the Fort Worth metroplex marketplace. Candidate will be responsible for demonstrating company’s products and core competencies to new and existing customers. Territory is established and has very good growth potential.


  • Provide technical support to new and existing customers
  • Be able to demonstrate companies products proficiently to the customers
  • Candidate should be able to identify target markets and applications
  • Document sales calls and activities in CRM database
  • Work closely with Sales management to identify prospects and communicate prospects needs


  • Salary plus commissions, plus benefits


  • Four year degree preferably in an engineering curriculum or previous technical sales background
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatics and industrial automation products and processes
  • Must be able to work without constant supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products

Shepherd Controls, a leading industrial automation distributor, since 1985,located in Allen, TX is looking for a detail oriented Controls Engineer/Project Engineer.


  • Machine programming and commissioning.
  • Machine design and component specification.
  • Visit customers to commission or quote projects.
  • Handling direct calls from customers to create solutions or troubleshoot systems.
  • Creating Quotes generated in Excel.
  • Inter-office communication.
  • Assisting outside sales with projects for customers.


  • Experience reading and generating electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Experience programming machines for motion control applications. Our systems are PLC, Servo, HMI, robotic based using primarily Tolomatic, Delta, Proface, and Precise Automation.
  • Understanding of motion control concepts with ability to and experience in sizing and specifying stepper, servo, linear actuators, and various motors and drive systems.
  • Experience with and good understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and customer based).


Career Level Required Experienced (Non-Manager)
Experience Required Experience doing 3D mechanical design using SolidWorks is a plus.  5 years of experience with industrial automation controls.
Education Required BS in Engineering, Technology, or similar technical degree.
